Finding Balance in a 'No Vacancy' World: 3 Strategies for Overwhelmed Women

Hello, amazing humans!

If you’ve ever felt like there’s a flashing "No Vacancy" sign permanently glued to your forehead, you’re not alone. Women—especially those of us who wear multiple hats (entrepreneur, leader, caregiver, friend, partner, and the list goes on)—know all too well what it feels like to carry the weight of everything. The to-do lists grow, the expectations pile up, and suddenly, even the most logical, capable version of ourselves feels like she’s running on fumes.

And here’s the truth—executive function skills don’t always come as easily to me in my mid-50s as they once did. And that’s OK.

Through my growth mindset and the intention of developing my skills and presence in a home filled with ADHD brains, I’ve come to realize that I, too, have ADHD-like tendencies. My brain processes things differently than it used to, and instead of resisting it, I’ve learned to embrace it. This journey has been a powerful lesson in self-awareness—understanding how my mind works, what helps me thrive, and how I can show up for myself and the people around me. It has also given me a deeper appreciation for different learning styles, building bridges instead of barriers. And perhaps most importantly, it has helped reduce my own anxiety and overwhelm because I’m no longer trying to force a system that doesn’t fit. Instead, I’m leaning into what does work.

So, how do we restore balance when life feels like an ever-spinning carousel? Here are three strategies to help you reclaim your energy and sanity:

1. Prioritize Self-Care—Because You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

Just as I emphasize the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people, it’s equally crucial to surround yourself with self-care practices. And let’s be clear: self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s the fuel that keeps you moving, thinking, and showing up fully in all areas of your life.

Whether it’s savoring your morning coffee in peace, stepping outside for fresh air, or giving yourself permission to rest (yes, REST!), self-care is how we sustain ourselves. It’s how we reclaim our time and energy, unapologetically.

2. Practice Saying No—Because Your Time is Sacred

We talk a lot about breaking down goals into smaller steps, but let’s flip that for a second—sometimes, the real growth comes from subtracting instead of adding. Learning to say no—gracefully but firmly—is one of the most powerful skills you can develop.

Think of it this way: Every “no” to something that drains you is a “yes” to something that fills you up. Your time and energy are valuable—protect them.

3. Embrace Imperfection—Because Done is Better Than Perfect

Let’s be real: Perfection is a moving target that no one ever hits. And yet, so many of us carry the weight of unrealistic expectations, analyzing every move, afraid to take the next step unless it’s flawless.

But what if we stopped chasing perfection and instead leaned into progress?

What if we celebrated the small wins, the messy middles, the lessons along the way? What if we acknowledged that life is unpredictable, and the beauty lies in how we navigate the twists and turns?

The moment we let go of perfectionism is the moment we step into real freedom.

So, my friend, take a deep breath. Release the pressure to do it all, all the time. The balance you’re searching for isn’t about doing more—it’s about aligning with what truly matters.

You are capable. You are resilient. You are enough.

Stay fabulous & keep stretching,

Sonal
